Today, thanks to hooping, I ignored my feelings of panic and fear and did something I wouldn’t normally want to do!
I went by myself to the local park/woods to hula hoop, while inside I was dreading what the dog walkers and passers by would think. I found a relatively secluded spot, ipod on, and just started hooping. It was fine! No-one batted an eyelid, and thanks to The Temperance Movement playing first I forgot to worry and just bloody enjoyed it!
I met a lovely woman, who saw the light catching the hoops and came to find me because her niece is a hooper – she had bought a toy hoop but found it impossible to hoop with (because its way too small!), but she took off her coat (in the freezing Birmingham winter) and tried my hoop out! And we hooped together, talked for a while and it made me think how hoops always seem to attract the nicest people! I have met so many lovely people through hooping, I can only think it must be a hoop thing!
I really hope I bump into her again because I have a hoop for her – she may read this, so if you do and see me in the woods come over again because I will have it with me!
It was just the most beautiful afternoon and so unexpected in the middle of winter! Doing hoopy things always brings happiness – I have spent all day and evening smiling!
